Our Love Story – A Tale Told From Two Perspectives

Katelin:

Our love story is a classic “friends to lovers” tale. Anthony was my brother Levi’s best friend, which meant he was always around. To me, he was just Levi’s friend—annoying but familiar. But I always admired how Anthony moved to Maryland, embraced the truth, and became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses—even learning to do so in another language.

Anthony:

Katelin was always so intriguing to me—quiet, reserved, and incredibly thoughtful. I respected her boundaries and kept my feelings for her to myself out of respect for Levi. But I couldn’t help but notice how special she was.

Katelin:

In 2022, everything started to change. A trip to Busch Gardens brought us closer when we both had a bit of drama on a roller coaster. Anthony lost his glasses, and I lost my phone, so we bonded over our shared misfortune. For the first time, I began to notice how calm and thoughtful he was, and we started to connect as friends.

Anthony:

That trip to Busch Gardens was a turning point. For the first time, I felt like Katelin really saw me—not just as Levi’s friend, but as someone she could connect with.

Katelin:

Later that year, during a family vacation to the Dominican Republic, we got to know each other even better. One night, while Levi stayed back at the villa, Anthony, my best friend Mira (now my maid of honor), and I went out. That night, Anthony and I had a heart-to-heart conversation where we realized how much we’d misunderstood each other and discovered just how much we had in common.

Anthony:

That night in the Dominican Republic was unforgettable. It felt like we finally broke down the walls between us and saw each other for who we really were.

Katelin:

We spent the next year figuring out where our relationship was headed, taking time to get to know each other on a deeper level. While Anthony insists our first date was in March, I say it was October 2023! He took me on a beautiful fall date—my favorite season. It was perfect: a pumpkin patch, the National Harbor Ferris wheel, walking the city, and ending the night at a diner (my favorite kind of restaurant). We even went into a photobooth!

Anthony:

Okay, I say our first date was in March—but either way, that October date was something special. I wanted to create a day that felt like it was just for her, full of all the things she loves.

Katelin:

What makes our relationship special is how we can have so much fun together but also switch to being serious in an instant—it feels completely natural.

Anthony:

Exactly. She makes it easy to just be myself, and I think that’s why we’ve been able to grow together despite the challenges we’ve faced.

Katelin:

In December 2024, I finally had the chance to visit Anthony’s North Carolina family. Their love, hospitality, and acceptance meant the world to me.

Anthony:

Having Katelin in my hometown, surrounded by the people I grew up with, felt so right. Seeing how my family embraced her just underscored for me how amazing she is.

Katelin:

Then one late night, after mini-golf, go-karting, dinner, and far too many rounds of karaoke, Anthony took me to LeBauer Park in downtown Greensboro at 2 a.m. Under the stars, he got down on one knee and asked me to spend forever with him. And of course, I said yes!

Anthony:

That moment at LeBauer Park was one of the best of my life. Seeing her face light up as I asked her to marry me—there’s nothing I’ll ever forget about it. Shout out to my boy Kam for being the perfect chaperone, and capturing the moment just the way I wanted!

What started as an unspoken connection has grown into a love story we wouldn’t trade for anything. We’re so excited to start this next chapter of our lives together, surrounded by the family and friends who’ve supported us every step of the way.
